One of the perks of living in the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) is that there is always something to do; after work, on weekends, even during the work day. There is never a dull moment in the city. The downside, of course is finding something to wear to these events. As millenials our pockets can’t afford a new outfit for every event and even if we could… who has the closet space?
I’m all about putting my clothes to work and maximizing their use. My rule of thumb is as follows: If I can’t think of at least 2 different outfits for a piece of clothing, I will not buy it. Versatility is key when shopping. More on that at a later date when I dish on my shopping tips. For now let’s focus on this quick 9-5 to Happy Hour look I put together.
Gold is my go to metal so of course I had to pick up these golden culottes when I saw
them at the Zara sale last year. For my 9-5 look I paired it with this black top I found at TJ Maxx a while back. Some black pumps from urbanog (they are clutch with the inexpensive shoes) brought this look together.
Since the culottes can be a bit loud I went for neutrals in order to tame it for work. The bag is an oldie but goodie from Shein (they are clutch with inexpensive EVERYTHING). The finishing touch is this belt from my college days. Once upon a time I was a belt fanatic and i purchased this one at Old Navy to add to my collection.
For Happy Hour I kicked things up a bit with this crop top from ASOS that Ipurchased ages ago in college. Before I was a Zara addict, my drug of choice was ASOS, and I still purchase items there from time to time.
The piece de resistance of the Happy Hour look is this Zara jacket, I have worn it several times since purchasing it. Did I already mention that versatility is key? I finished off the look with these green sandals, also from Zara, and this bag from Ebay.
